The temperatures are rising, and where better to spend those scorching summer days than in the water? There are several reservoirs in Washington County:

  • Gunlock State Park - Popular for its impressive waterfalls, Gunlock is a fun place for water sports, and at certain times of the year, the largemouth bass and channel catfish are good catching.
  • Sand Hollow State Park - There is something for every outdoor enthusiast here: fishing, ATV trails, camping, cliff jumping, and sandy beaches. You can also rent equipment such as paddle boards, kayaks, quads, and more onsite. Don't forget nearby Sand Hollow Golf Course!
  • Quail Creek State Park - Perfect for year-round fishing and camping, the reservoir is a great place to unload the boat and spend the day.
  • Enterprise Reservoir - You can't bring a motorized vehicle onto this lake, but there are scenic camping sites and ATV trails surrounding the reservoir. The great fishing and cooler temperatures make Enterprise reservoir a great place to visit!
These smaller reservoirs are quick and easy to get to, but if a large lake is preferable, Lake Powell is 190 miles from St. George to the east and Lake Mead is 102 miles south. Spending a day at the lake can make your loved ones closer... and cooler!
